The Zones of Regulation
At Blowers Green Primary School, we recognise that emotional regulation is essential for successful learning, positive relationships and overall wellbeing. To support this, every child takes part in the Zones of Regulation (ZOR) programme — a whole‑school approach that helps pupils identify, understand and manage their emotions throughout the school day.

All pupils complete their ZOR check-ins twice daily — once when they arrive in the morning and again after lunch — in a calm, private and reflective manner. Using age‑appropriate tools, children indicate which emotional ‘zone’ they are in so that staff can offer timely support when needed.
The Zones of Regulation framework helps children to:
- Identify and label their feelings accurately
- Understand that all emotions are normal and manageable
- Learn strategies to regulate and return to the “Green Zone” for learning
- Develop empathy, resilience and growing independence
By embedding emotional regulation into daily routines, we ensure that every pupil at Blowers Green can belong, achieve and thrive — emotionally, socially and academically.
